WHAT WAS YOUR PRE-RACE STRATEGY?
Intimidation. My car looked the coolest and had the most torque and the most speed. I was able to do wheelies in the office! Everyone was afraid of my car.
WHAT SORT OF DESIGNS DID YOU PUT INTO YOUR PART OF THE TRACK?
I was setting up the pit stop food and beer area while the track was being designed. It started with hooking a tow strap to a park bench and dragging it through the forest with my brother surfing on the bench behind my truck. I think that may have had to do with that special potion I had fermenting in the fridge for a few days before the race.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU HAVE FOR RACE DAY?
Cheat. I knew once I got a turn, there was no controlling the car. I didn't have a chance, unless we were drag racing, but we weren't.
HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
Horrible. There was so much play in my steering the car just went to the left or the right whenever it wanted to, or sure I could burn the tires off, but you better get out to the way because I had no control over it.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
Used less Everclear in the potion.

WHAT WAS YOUR PRE-RACE STRATEGY?
Being a car guy I wanted to modify the car to make it go faster. (this was a great idea until I overheated the electronics and burned up the circuit board.
WHAT SORT OF DESIGNS DID YOU PUT INTO YOUR PART OF THE TRACK?
I purchased the smallest car, so my plan was to make the track with tight turns where the other cars would have trouble getting through.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU HAVE FOR RACE DAY?
I just wanted to keep it fair, and make it till the end of the day.
HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
I think the track was fair. My modifications adding higher voltage batteries ended in disaster. First race my car beat Jim's car, but burned up the electronics never to move again.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
I would've kept my car stock.

WHAT WAS YOUR PRE-RACE STRATEGY?
I had the longest battery life and good speed. It was simply to outrun the slower cars and outlast the faster cars.
WHAT SORT OF DESIGNS DID YOU PUT INTO YOUR PART OF THE TRACK?
I added a long slight curve with a fork. If I had the faster car I could really fly, but if not the curve and fork created good opportunities to attack without slowing me down.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU HAVE FOR RACE DAY?
Be aggressive. I didn't have the fastest car but I had a big rammer and a good battery.
HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
Not good. The course ended up being very curvy and because of interference, instead of head to head races we had to do time trials. Someone queue the tiny violin.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
Knowing what I know now, I would have put more emphasis on control training and less on speed.

WHAT WAS YOUR PRE-RACE STRATEGY?
Choosing a balanced R/C what was capable of cornering and still maintaining speed around the bends while getting good range off the remote and great battery life. This didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would since Tim forced everyone to buy their cars quickly once he bought his "Super R/C Deal" in an effort to get a jump on the competition. I was able to research quickly and found my ideal R/C. (How about that awesome Hovercraft Tim? Great deal right? Haha!)
WHAT SORT OF DESIGNS DID YOU PUT INTO YOUR PART OF THE TRACK?
Since almost everyone was working on crazy S-bends and tight corners, it was up to me to setup a good straight away. It started narrow but then widened as the track progressed. I also started naming the track and it's corners so we could easily follow where everyone was at. From the Nurburgring to portions of the Top Gear test track, there were bits and pieces from all over.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU HAVE FOR RACE DAY?
Observing the competition and seeing their strengths and weaknesses. Adjusting to the track layout and progressively becoming faster and more aggressive as the competition advanced. Making fun of Tim and his hacked up R/C.
HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
It worked out great. The competition was fierce but I ended up winning all of my races to take 1st Place and become Champion.
IF YOU COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
I could have practiced more outdoors to get better feel of my car's capabilities on the ground instead of the office. I could have also researched more into radio frequencies to get a stronger radio band for even better range.

WHAT WAS YOUR PRE-RACE STRATEGY?
To have a fully charged battery and to make sure my car tracked straight
WHAT SORT OF DESIGNS DID YOU PUT INTO YOUR PART OF THE TRACK?
I really wanted to have a straight away so my cars blazing speed would come into play, with a little S bend at the end to make the turn a bit more difficult.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU HAVE FOR RACE DAY?
To get a big lead in the straight aways and try not to burn out and lose control.
HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
Not so well, did lots of burnouts, but still got third!
IF YOU COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
Put different tires on.
