We do have some of the new Dimmable LED Hexagon Lights in stock in Chicago. They are the same lights with three levels of brightness.
This is a hexagon patterned LED lighting system that brings the idea of lighting up your space to a whole new level. The light spread from the pattern gives you a comfortable visual experience while illuminating an entire garage bay. The LEDs are energy efficient, and there are many of them, so the power consumption of 552 watts is used for a stunning 60,000 lumens of light. An old incandescent light bulb produces roughly 15 lumens per watt, this LED light set is 60,000 lumens so roughly equivalent to 4,000 watts of incandescent light. If you're looking to light up your garage, or you have a shop that needs some dressing up, these lights are the answer. These lights are extremely popular in the automotive industry for dealerships, detailing shops, car washes, vinyl wrap shops, and paint and auto body shops. They are also popular in retail shops, gyms, and have been on sets of a few TV shows.
The lights are hardwired to your switched power in your home or business just like any other ceiling light. Each light set is powered at three locations and comes with short wire leads that you will tie into your power. You will likely need some additional wire and tools to properly wire the lights. These connect to regular household/business AC100-240V power, but you MUST wire them correctly or you risk burning out the entire light set. The red wire goes to your live wire. The blue wire goes to your neutral wire. The yellow wire goes to your earth ground. You MUST distinguish between your live and neutral wires by testing them, reversing them can burn out the entire set. This is also explained in the instruction manual.
The lights are hung by the connecting brackets, please browse the image gallery on this page and you will see the connecting brackets have a hole in them to allow them to be hung with a screw or zip tie. These lights can be screwed directly to your ceiling for easy installation. If you want to have them dropped from the ceiling, there are a few ways you can do this, keep in mind the entire huge light set only weighs about 25 lbs. The first option is to have a frame to attach the lights to and have the frame lowered from the ceiling which you can zip tie the lights onto through the holes in the corners of the connecting brackets. Another option is to hang wire, something inexpensive like bailing wire, from the ceiling above the connecting brackets and loop that wire through the holes in the corners of the connecting brackets. You can see an example of this in the above photo gallery.
The outer rectangle and the inner hexagon pattern are essentially two different lights. The outer rectangle will have one set of wire leads coming off of it, and the inner hexagon pattern will have two sets of separate wire leads coming off of it. You can tie these wires together and operate both the rectangle and the hexagon pattern on the same switch. Or you can supply different switched power to the rectangle and the hexagon pattern allowing you to either switch the rectangle on, or the hexagons on, or have both on.
The outer rectangle is a separate light from the inner hexagon pattern. You can put the rectangle in a different location than the hexagon pattern if you choose.
The inner hexagon area will need to be powered at two locations on the hexagon grid. This is because each of the light tubes have transformers within them and by powering them only at one location there is too much of a load put on the first two light tubes where the power is supplied. By running a jumper to a second powering location on the grid it greatly reduces the load on the internal system ensure many years of use. How you jump power to the second location on the grid may depend on your local code, but it can be as simple as running Romex on the back of the light tubes so that it's hidden as it goes to the second location.
You can change the design and combine sets. Custom designs are not available (unless you have a very large commercial application) because it is less expensive to purchase multiple sets and not use all the parts as opposed to creating a custom set. If you combine sets, please keep in mind that each hexagon area should be powered at two locations per set used. So if you combine two hexagon sets, you will need to power it at 4 locations.
