The handle rotates on a stationary gear which turns the rocker switch on and off. The smaller gears on the sides of the handle go round the larger ones as the handle is flipped up and down. Small magnets on the top and bottom of the switch plate hold the handle in position.

Install is quick: this light switch cover installs on top of any standard and medium size residential single rocker light switch and goes over the existing plastic cover using the existing screws to fasten to the wall. In some cases longer screws may be required; two extra longer screws are supplied.
