One of the most common questions we get about the Ulti-Mate Garage Cabinet line is: “Is there a taller storage cabinet available to fill more of my wall space?”
We get it—many people want to take advantage of every vertical inch in their garage. The Ulti-Mate Storage Closet Cabinet already gives you a substantial 80 inches of height (that’s 6' 8"), with a width of 35.5 inches and a depth of 21 inches. But what if you want to go higher?
Here’s the catch: shipping a single cabinet taller than 80 inches is nearly impossible. These cabinets ship on pallets, and anything taller just doesn’t fit on or off standard delivery trucks. Liftgates only allow so much clearance, which limits the size of individual units that can be delivered safely.
How to Build Taller Storage—The Smart Way
There are two optional cabinets that match the 35.5-inch width of the storage closet and can be installed above it to add height:
1. 2-Door Oversized Base Cabinet
This is often the best option if you have the ceiling height. It has the same 21-inch depth as the closet cabinet, so it creates a clean, flush look. To install it above the closet, you simply remove the legs and flip the doors upside-down.
We know that might sound strange—but trust us, it looks fabulous and functions extremely well. You can see an example in this cabinet set:

This cabinet adds 29 inches of height.
Minimum ceiling height: 109" (9'1")
2. Oversized Partitioned 2-Door Wall Cabinet
This cabinet has a shallower 14-inch depth, which still matches the width of the closet but steps back slightly for clearance. It adds 23.6 inches of height and is a great option when ceiling height is more limited.
Minimum ceiling height: 104" (8'8")
Avoid Door Clearance Issues
One important thing to note: the doors on these cabinets are full-overlay, meaning they fully cover the cabinet fronts. Because of this, you’ll need to leave a small gap between the cabinets when stacking to prevent the doors from rubbing against each other. This can easily be done by using shims to slightly lift the upper cabinet before securing it to the wall.
In Summary
With these stacking options, you can take your garage storage well over 100 inches in height, while maintaining a clean, built-in look—and avoiding the shipping issues that come with oversized one-piece cabinets.
